Timeshare Vacations–What to Take on a Trip

by admin on November 10, 2009

It’s time to go on the road again–time for another timeshare vacation! We’re excited, we’re looking forward to it, but so many things to do!  Will we ever be ready to leave on time??? What do we need to do before we go?

It seems like no matter how many trips we take, the week before we leave is always hectic. It doesn’t matter if we’re going somewhere that’s 300 miles away, or 4000 miles away–there just doesn’t seem to be enough time to get everything done! But we do have a few lists to help us get organized.

First of all, there is the Timeshare Tub, which we wrote about in a previous post. Before every driving trip, we go over our Tub list and re-stock anything that we’re low on. If it is a flying trip, we go over the Tub list to see if there are things from the tub that we want to take–such as laundry soap, fabric softener, paper plates, maybe some spices, matches, etc.–small things, that won’t add a lot of weight to our luggage.

Then there is the Non-Tub Trip List. This consists of these items:

  • Hats
  • Camera
  • Hiking water bottle
  • Lawn chairs
  • Beach towels
  • Binoculars
  • Grandkid pix
  • Pop
  • Fabric ice chest
  • CD player
  • Juice
  • Bottled water
  • Books
  • Coupons
  • Medicine/vitamins
  • Bottled water
  • Oatmeal packets

Obviously, this list would have to be modified for air travel.  Also, you could probably care less about some of this stuff, but it’s important to us.  The point is, think it through and make your own list.  Maybe you could use this one as a starter list and take it from there.  Type it into your word processor, save it, and you can print out a new one for every trip if you need to. We are constantly removing things from the list and adding new ones.

Finally, there is our Last Minute Things to do Before Leaving on a Trip List. Right now, these are the items on that list:

  • Cancel newspapers
  • Return library books
  • Turn heat down
  • Turn stove light on
  • Water plants
  • Mow and/or water lawn (summer)
  • Check fridge for old food
  • Take out garbage
  • Turn off coffee pot
  • Unplug anything you feel needs unplugging
  • Check with relative/neighbor regarding mail or any other services they are performing for you or/cancel mail

There are probably lots of things that you could add to the list, and we’d love to have your list, so feel free to email us!
Right now we’re getting ready to head out West in four days, AFTER we babysit 2 1/2 days, have a birthday party, 2 doctor appointments, and all the other stuff mentioned above.  There is just never enough time!
